Laminated wood frame with multiple joints, the Capoferri patent

In response to the growing needs of thermal insulation, Capoferri’s patented laminated wood frame with multiple joints SC80 and SC100 is designed for insulating and safety glass.

These windows have a thickness of 80 and 100 mm, sharp edges and do not have shutters. They are equipped with locking glazing beads, sealing gaskets and silicone metal (316 stainless steel or bronze) coated thermal break drip. They combine aesthetics and functionality with possibility to create many kinds of openings with regard to shape and size.

It is a highly performing product capable of responding to the highest thermal insulation requirements.

Need

The laminated wood frame with multiple joints was born precisely from the need for valid thermal insulation.

The search for increasingly ecological solutions for construction has pushed the window and door sector towards efficient products, with the aim of combining aesthetic values and the need to maintain optimal indoor temperatures in summer and winter, minimizing use of air conditioning systems.

If installed in buildings made of sustainable materials, these windows are also suitable for the proper functioning of passive houses with high living comfort.

Design

The design of the laminated wood frame with multiple joints SC80 and SC100, made with Capoferri patented laminated wood, involves a sequence of high-tech processes.

Capoferri is the first Italian company to significantly improve the performance of this material thanks to high engineering. By means of a multiple joints (3 or 4 parts) system, the window ensures better weatherproofing and high resistance to break-ins.

Each laminated wood window is made with top quality material, from which all weak elements such as knots are discarded, ensuring maximum performance in stability against possible deformations. The comb joints are not visible and help to keep the structure solid and resistant.

An irreproachable design requires maximum attention to:

• junction details;
• tailor-made hardware for hinged and sliding windows;
• sealing gaskets;
• drip tray;
• thresholds and guides;
• painting of the wooden profile – with water-based products;
• coating materials.

High-precision electronic machines ensure perfection in the joints assembling and their tightness. They are able to house glass with variable thickness, from 21 to 36 mm for SC80, up to 50 mm for SC100. The thickness of the glasses can be chosen according to the thermal insulation, noise abatement and safety performances required.

The Capoferri patent also concerns the hardware used for the construction of this laminated wood frame with multiple joints. Fully tailor made, it allows the opening and closing of large and heavy windows, ensuring excellent performance.

The hardware of the hinged windows is made of 316 stainless steel, also equipped with a special Capoferri exclusive limiter, designed for safe ventilation even in the vasistas position.

The lift&slide windows have Bral wheels equipped with anti-displacement fins. This bronze and aluminum alloy is very strong and self-lubricating. The trolleys bear ultil 800 kg and have an optional hidden decelerator to slow down the sliding.

The synthetic seals are obtained by 3D manufacturing technology. They are UV rays and atmospheric agents resistant and guarantee exceptional sealing performance.

The window drip is made up of a silicone profile fixed in the crosspiece of the fixed frame. It is covered by a 316 stainless steel or bronze profile or it can be covered with a wooden drip attached to the door.

A perfect water tightness is also guaranteed by the patented “fin” system on the threshold with thermal break, flush floor. The upper guide guarantees an excellent mechanical seal against the wind in sliding windows.

The non-toxic paint is obtained from resins in aqueous dispersion, free from harmful solvents and latex components. It protects and refines the wood.

The aesthetics of the window is enhanced by a stainless steel coating with a matte, satin, glossy and painted finish, or copper coating with a natural or oxidized finish or bronze in light, medium, dark oxidized finishes.

• water tightness (UNI EN 1027 – 12208), class E1050 for swing windows and class E1500 for sliding windows;
• resistance to wind load (UNI EN 12211 – 12210), class C5;
