The structure of the SA98 window is based on the Capoferri-patented interlocking glue-laminated SC80 profile clad externally with a metal frame, obtained from folded sheet metal profiles (3 mm thick) jointed with invisible welds on all corners.
The coupling with the wooden frame takes place by means of metal clips with slots that take into account the different expansion coefficient of the two materials.
The total thickness of the Serrabito 98 profile is 98 mm (leaf).
The assembly of the wooden portion of the fixed frame is performed with an open dowel connection, that of the leaf with a closed double dowel connection
The internal glazing bead, available with different moldings including custom shapes, is fixed with sunk screws or nails and the fitting of the glass, which is usually entrusted simply to these screws or nails, is in this case guaranteed by a continuous tongue-in-groove joint between the glazing bead itself and the leaf.
The glazing rebate can take windows with a thickness of up to 50 mm.
CAPOFERRI was the first Italian company to have adopted glue-laminated timber technology over 40 years ago. CAPOFERRI has significantly improved traditional laminated wood through its engineering; in fact, the jointed laminated timber is made up from three to four parts with multiple joints. These parts, once assembled, ensure a better structural resistance than the fibers of the wood itself; in fact, if subjected to a stress greater than the critical one, failure occurs in points other than those of the junction.
Another prerogative of the CAPOFERRI profiles is that the central hidden parts, are sectioned and jointed with comb joints.
This composition work allows our skilled craftsmen to select only the best quality parts of the timber, discarding weak and unsuitable elements such as knots, and ensuring stability against possible deformations.
The jointing of the stile and the rail of the leaf is carried out with a triple closed dowel connection.
The preparation of the joint is performed with high-precision electronic machines that ensure perfect joint assembly and therefore its tightness.
The internal profile of the leaf has a 20 mm deep rebate for housing the insulating and / or safety glazing.
On the outside, in correspondence with the fixed glazing bead, a EURO-type groove is milled to contain the silicone sealant.
The internal glazing bead is fitted and screwed with tropicalized screws or fitted with headless nails.
The rebate for the insulating glass units varies from 21 mm to 50 mm for SA98 depending on the required performance (thermal insulation, noise reduction, safety).
To overcome the limits of weight, dimension and material quality of the commercial hardware available on the market, CAPOFERRI have decided to design and build our own exclusive hardware that allows us to create doors and windows of any dimension and weight and to obtain unique performances that we can offer to the market.
The hardware for casement windows (BTN) is made from 316 stainless steel, produced by Capoferri. The hardware consists of a 25×3 section plate and a 14×3 transmission plate that moves the closing rollers/cams and controls the upper vertical bolt on the handle side. The transmission slider is driven by a gear with a recessed rack-and-pinion transmission to reduce overall dimensions. 316 stainless steel strike plates are cast. For double-leaf doors, the secondary leaf is held in place by two sliding bolts (lower and upper) moved by a lever with gear, pinion, rack, and inverter. The ends of the sliding bolts are adjustable and cast. A special LIMITER is also part of the Capoferri hardware options: a special bayonet that, activated by moving the handle upwards, locks the door in a safe ventilation position.
The special hardware for Lift&Slide is made from 316 stainless steel, complete with anti-burglary locking hooks on the stile with handle and fixed hooks on the center stile. The front cover plate is from 316 stainless steel or bronze. The wheels of the roller carriages are made from Brall, a very resistant and self-lubricating bronze/aluminum alloy, with special anti-derailing wings on its rollers. The roller carriages, equipped with a special gas spring concealed in the window, have a capacity of up to 800 kg. Special decelerators (optional) can be hidden in the leaf to slow down the movement of the door both during opening and closing.
All gaskets are made of synthetic material resistant to ultraviolet rays and atmospheric agents.
The innovative process that uses additive manufacturing technology starting from 3D models, allows the creation of ad hoc molds designed for a specific application. The gaskets obtained guarantee sealing performances that are unmatched on the market.
Assembly takes place by pushing the gasket into a special joint obtained along the entire perimeter of the door; the corners are welded to ensure perfect sealing and stability in the housing.
The window drip consists of a silicone profile fixed on the lower rail of the fixed frame. Special silicone rubber plugs are applied to the ends of the drip to ensure water tightness. The drip is capped with a metal profile (316 stainless steel or bronze) and can be covered by a wooden drip on the leaf if requested (optional).
The threshold of the casement doors is made from stainless steel or bronze, flush with finished floor-level and comes with a thermal break, it guarantees perfect water tightness thanks to the patented “flap” system, which consists of a rotating gasket mounted on the door.
The threshold of the Lift&Slide doors is also from 316 stainless steel or bronze, again flush with finished floor-level and also comes with a thermal break. Water tightness is guaranteed by a system of special silicone gaskets and bumpers.
The upper guide of the Lift&Slide windows is made from 316 stainless steel or bronze (5 mm thick) and makes an excellent mechanical seal against the wind.
The paint used is a specific product, transparent or colored, for the protection and finishing of the wood. The application phases are as follows:
The paints used are based on resins in aqueous dispersion. Solvents that harm the environment have been eliminated. The finishes are non-toxic to the internal environment and contain no latex components.
The metallic coating can be made from stainless-steel (matt, satin, polished or painted in RAL colors), and bronze (in light, medium or dark oxidized finishes).
NB: The soundproofing power was measured on a window with 5 (1.52) 5 + 12 + 4 (0.76 anti-noise) 4 glazing and on a 3300 x 3000 sliding lift with 6 (0.76 anti-noise) 6 + 20 glazing +4 (0.76 anti-noise) 4.
Capoferri carries the certification of its Quality Management System according to UNI EN ISO 9001.
